Policy and Mod Changes

Over the next week I will be making changes to better improve player interaction expectations.

Key changes,

  • Mod/Admin player changes
Changing who is a mod, generally moving to fewer mods. Mod is not a fixed position, but it a responsibility to keeping things working for players on the server.
  • Adding a player policy
This will be on the website that will cover forum posts, content posts (coming feature) and player chat. When to use forums and when to use the bug/request track system (coming feature).
  • Lead Moderator
Some one that will oversee moderators. I myself will be taking a back seat to moderation and focusing more on making servers work and adding features of content post system and bug/request track.
  • Updating the current Admin code of conduct.
Making improvements and clarify some areas.
  • Bug and Request track feature
I will be adding this to help with remembering server stuff that needs fixing/changing. Player requests such as white-listing, banning, un-banning of players, complaints. Mainly to keep non-fun out of the forums.

World Migration Day (Life Post 1.12 Update)

The 1.12 update was a bit rocky, partly due to the fact we run quite a number of plugins and partly due to the future survival multi-world goal. Thanks everyone for your patience and support, sometimes these things have complications.

World Migration Day, 1st July (or there abouts)
There was a problem converting inventory from world1 over to our new survival multi world set-up. So instead you’re going to need to empty your inventory and ender chests into standard chests. On migration day, world1 (current /server survival) will be moved to the new survival server (currently lobby). The reason for this is to conserve memory and also create a multi-world survival set-up, with new worlds coming on-board as new major updates need (about every 1-2 years).

  • Before 1st July, put your gear from inventory and ender chests, into normal chests
  • Player inventories on survival (world1) will be reset when merged with lobby/world2 server
  • New claims on world1 will not be carried over (old ones will, it’s the ids)
  • World Border will be shrunk to 10k, move far base stuff in

Post Minecraft 1.12 Update
There’s still a few servers with broken functionality and I’m work on making it great again.

A few causes

  • Plugins need to be updated by the author, waiting game
  • Permission need to be updated to allow you access, just let me know
  • Plugins have changed, a few plugins have been removed and new ones been added, which means new commands and new stuff.

Thanks everyone, I’ve been updating the code behind the scenes to make things better.

Keep you posted you beautiful ppl.

Minecraft 1.12 update … expect downtime

Minecraft 1.12 update … expect downtime

Expect downtime on Minecraft Vanilla based servers this week. With the release of 1.12 this week I will be migrating data across. There maybe some issues with plugins such as claims and homes.

All 1.11 servers need to be updated and their plugins may need updates as well, so fingers crossed it’s a smooth transition.

Update [Fri, 16 June 2017] Minecraft testing for 1.12 is looking good. Maybe time to switch this thing over soon.

Update [Wed, 14 June, 2017] Looks like still some problems with the minecraft server image. I’m currently evaluating alternatives.

Update [Fri, 9 June, 2017, 9pm]
Failure is always an option! And with that it looks like we’re not ready to upgrade to 1.12. It seems some plugins or spigot doesn’t want to run. We’ll pause and wait a few days as bugs are fixed. I’m going to run a test environment and do some more background development to prepare better for next attempt. Thanks everyone.

Update [Fri, 9 June, 2017]
SpigotMC has been update to 1.12 and I will attempt an update tonight, there’s a bunch of stuff being moved and configured so fingers crossed.

Update [Thurs, 8 June, 2017]
Minecraft 1.12 has been released, I’m just waiting on spigot (the server software) to update and any associated plugins. Fingers crossed it won’t be long.

Update [Tues, 6 June, 2017]
Some changes in moving to Minecraft 1.12, I’m removing a few plugins and moving to better ones. Players /home and /warps will be handled by a new plugin, so you’ll need to recreated these for World1 after the migration.

GriefPrevention Real Estate Mod

GriefPrevention Real Estate Mod

I’ve found this really neat add-on mod to GriefPrevention, Real Estate!

It  aims to extend the Grief Prevention plugin by allowing users to be able to buy and sell claims or subclaims. You can also rent out claims.

This will allow you in world 2 to create towns and cities. Spawn will have a number of plots that will be claimable.

I had experimented with a plot system, like with the Creative world. Unfortunately it conflicted with GriefPrevention.

World 2 will have 3 mansion structures

World 2 will have 3 mansion structures

There will be 3 mansion structures within 10k blocks of spawn in the new seed. I’m also looking at if we can have a monthly reset on some of them.

Working towards 1.12. Multiverse has being set-up and early testing looks positive. World1 (current) and World2 (new) will be running side by each with separate nether, end, and inventory.

Blog 17w18

Hey everyone. It’s been some time since I’ve posted some stuff other than youtube videos on gg. I’ve had a multitude of stuff going on in my personal life for the past 12 months which has really taken quite a lot of energy. But I’m happy to say that stuff is pretty much out of my life now.

I’m looking forward to putting that energy into gg again. I’ve restarted work on updates for the website, which will include better leaderboards, player stat tracking and player personal albums. On the server front Minecraft 1.12 will be the beginning of a new world (old world will still be there for a while and will probably become a download) and there will be a tidy up of server and plugins.

I realise this is a text blog entry, would people prefer a video?
